News: Real Alexia Bride - Laura Hicks. (Dec/03)
In September we ran a social media campaign to win a bridal gown. Three months later we interviewed the lucky winner.
Our Instagram follower’s entered the competition by posting an image of them wearing a summer dress to the Alexia account. At random we choose a winner and that luck lady was Laura Hicks. Hayley Rorrison our Media Assistant interviewed Laura to ask her about her experience whilst choosing here dream dress at her nearest Alexia stockist; Boulevard Brides in Colchester.
How did you feel when you were told you had won the social media competition?
I couldn't believe it when I was told I’d won as I have never been lucky with competitions but I literally rang everyone on my phone list. I viewed the dresses online all the time. As it got closer I was wishing the days away so I could choose my dress.
Was choosing your bridal dress a special memory and how would you describe the experience?
I really enjoyed choosing the dress it was surreal and fun. I was so glad my bridesmaids could come too and my auntie. It was a great afternoon everyone said how much they enjoyed it afterwards. It feels so strange to be grown up and getting married already. It was an emotional day for everyone.
Did you know what type of dress you was looking for and if so what was it?
I went to Boulevard looking for a fishtail dress in fact I said I only wanted to try on fishtails but the more I tried on the princess dresses the more I loved them. The one I chose made me feel like a real princess as soon as I put it on I completely changed my mind about a bigger dress. I said I didn't want a long train either but I completely fell in love with the dress's train and decoration, it really felt like a church wedding dress big and bold with a fairytale feel. I can not wait to see our wedding photos and I know I will keep and treasure the dress forever.
Do you think if you hadn’t of won the competition but found the dress you choose you would have bought it anyway?
I think I would have bought the same dress if I hadn't have won it was a hard choice with so many lovely dresses.
Did you have a big variety to choose from?
I had a really big variety to choose from I wasn't expecting so many and they were all so unique. I knew as soon as I saw the selection that I was going to have a serious dilemma.
Were you happy the selection of dresses you could choose from?
I was very happy with the selection they were all stunning and it was nice to try styles that I would not normally go for. It is always the ones you don't think will look good that you fall in love with!
Would you recommend Boulevard Brides to a friend?
I would definitely recommend both Boulevard and Alexia Designs to friends I share on Facebook whenever I can and have recommended to everyone I know! You have all been fantastic the girls at Boulevard made me feel so relaxed and at home and made it a day to remember.
"I feel so lucky to have won and to have had the experience I did I will not forget it and I just want to get married tomorrow now! You have all been amazing I was very glad of the girls at Boulevard's opinions and they are obviously very proud and passionate about their job and it shows the enthusiasm from all of you makes us future brides feel so special. It's hard to pick a favorite part of my dress but I think it would be the sequin under layer it really made the dress" - Laura Hicks.
