News: Wedding Dress Shopping Tips From a Bridal Designer (May/19)
Selecting the perfect dress for your big day is not a small job, Alexia Designs shares some useful advice about finding “the one”.
Are you approaching your first shopping trip?
Organise your day.
A typical bridal gown appointment is one and a half long, we suggest booking no more than two or three in a day. Don’t oversaturate yourself with so many dresses you don’t remember what you have tried on.
Do your research.
Look at Pinterest, magazines, designer websites to get an idea of what style your are drawn to in terms of shape and style, take these ideas to the appointment.
The overall theme is important for your consultant because it will allow them to pull a range of dresses that would suit your ideas.
Don’t shop alone.
Invite no more than two or three people to go along with you maybe your Mother, Mother-in-law to be or your best friend. When a bride comes in with an entourage, there can sometimes be too many opinions which can make it difficult for you to make a decision.
Narrowing down the options.
Keep an open mind, more often than not, brides choose dresses that are nothing like their original ideas, so try on everything the consultant brings you, even if you think it isn’t right. Wedding dresses are very different to regular dresses, they have layers and linings that can pull you in all the right places.
