News: How to choose your wedding dress. (Jun/10)
Do you research.
First of all do you research and work out what type of dresses you actually like. Are you a statement type of gal that loves to look that little bit different. Do you want to look bold and beautiful wearing a dress that gets your pulse racing? Or are you a pretty princess and love everything glistening with a full-skirted ball gown? Perhaps you are more relaxed and want something more lightweight like a bridesmaid dress with a train? Or do you need something classical and vintage to wear on your big day to feel like yourself? Which ever it is do your research first and work out what types of wedding gowns would suit you and your personality.
Get to know your body shape.
When you know what type of dress you like it is now time to think about shape, as you know different dresses suit different body shapes. If you are a pear shape and tend to be bottom heavy drawing attention around your slimmer neckline and collarbone will help balance out your hips, halter necks work very well as well as high-necklines. Slim brides look great wearing fishtails to create the illusion of curves. Hourglass figures look fabulous wearing two-pieces or anything that will show off their curves. Your local stockist will be able to help you pick out the right dress shapes for your figure if you need help choosing a flattering style.
Try on several styles.
Knowing what you like and what dress shapes will suit your figure may help save you time when you go dress shopping but even if you know what you like it is always wise to try on a few different styles so you know you haven’t chosen the wrong style, just because in theory it should suit you. Some brides have said that they just know when they have found “the one” so trying on a variety of different styles will help illuminate any uncertainty of impulse buying a dress that ‘should’ suit you.
Don’t choose a dress just because it is fashionable.
Don’t just pick a dress because it is on trend. A wedding dress should be timeless if you have picked a style, which really suits you and your figure. Your wedding dress is something that will never go out of fashion because it makes you feel sexy, glamorous and yourself. So, two pieces may be bang on trend in the fashion industry right now but it doesn’t mean you have to style your wedding dress around this idea.
